«Ageing» of the population — is a global demographic trend that has affected most countries around the world and is the result of significant advances in medicine, science and social development. According to UN projections, by 2050, the proportion of people aged 65 and over in the world could reach 16%, and in Europe — 28%. Belarus is no exception. The proportion of people aged 65+ is 17.2%, and according to forecasts, by 2050, almost one in three inhabitants of the country will be over 65, accounting for 26.4% of the population.
Preparing and adapting to demographic change can not only prevent pressure on health care and pension systems, but also create the conditions for economic and social well-being that a healthy, active, and financially independent population of ‘silver age’ can bring to society.
The purpose of the forum — is to explore advanced approaches and innovative solutions in the field of active and healthy longevity, as well as to develop international cooperation to improve the quality of life of older people.
The International Forum on Healthy and Active Longevity aims to bring together leading experts, researchers and practitioners from countries in the Eurasian region to exchange experience, technologies and best practices, as well as to discuss opportunities for organising partnership projects between organisations from different countries united by a common goal: to promote the development of a society that values, supports and expands the opportunities for older people.
